Future Imperfect - Conundrum of Suddenly Human and Bio-Convergent: What Will the Future Army Look Like in 2050? Cybersecurity and Governance Considerations for the Use of Military Advanced Robotic Systems in Smart Environments

What will the Army look like in 2050 and how do we build an Army Force in the context of the multi-domain battle concept and the unknown risks? To gain understanding of the unknown aspect of the future, the authors developed an experimental multi-modal predictive risk assessment: x-ENEA℠ to illustrate the legal and cybersecurity challenges and opportunities for the usage and manufacturing of future military advanced robotics systems (x-MARS). Using, x-ENEA℠ the authors consider how trends in science, technology, society, the global economy and other factors could change the world in ways that affect how the Army looks like and operates in future conflicts. Unlike other predictive models, x-ENEAdelivers a 360° risk vantage stance, defining factors and future trends to support an enhanced and wiser path toward the future. x-ENEAis not only a hallmark of risk assessment, but also enhances the capacity of the defense community to potentially collaboratively create and implement the iterative resolutions required to solve wicked challenges. Using x-ENEAthe authors will present their findings of future trends impacting x-MARS and the strategic security leading to 2050 providing recommendations to governments, defense ministries, military organizations, businesses, and academic institutions to prepare for a future imperfect.
